As the lead consultant of English Edge, Sara works with education professionals to improve all aspects of English provision in primary schools.

Sara has 17 years experience in primary education working in both Walsall and Birmingham. Her experience includes teaching across the key stages but she specialises in years 2 and 6. She has 2 masters degrees, one in Education and one in Social, Emotional and Behavioural difficulties in which her research was awarded a distinction. She has also attained the NPQSL qualification with her research being into continuous provision in KS1.
During her teaching career, Sara worked as an English lead in a primary school in Walsall supporting the school in developing their English curriculum and supporting teachers to improve their English teaching.
She was also a Local authority moderator for both KS1 and 2, supporting the training of fellow moderators. She has a wealth of experience of supporting her own school and others to prepare for external moderation and assess writing across the school. This support enabled leaders in the school to know the current position and decide next steps to further develop their English provision.
Sara has worked with the STA on their review panels for the KS2 reading tests and been a SATS marker. This experience gives her an insight into the test development enabling her to be knowledgeable about the skills children need to tackle these assessments. With this knowledge, Sara has supported the development of reading across the school leading to improvement in standards.

Now, Sara specialises in creating bespoke support for schools based on their individual needs, running subject leader updates and training courses.
